Instagram’s Stories feature used by over 500 million accounts, and marketers account for one-third of the most-viewed Stories (Instagram). This tool has struck a chord with Instagram’s user base, & businesses can use it to increase audience awareness and engagement.
But, with all of this, the question remains: how can brands make the most of Stories to increase traffic and engagement for their businesses? It all starts with understanding how to use the Swipe Addition to its traditional focus on Instagram Stories to add links to your website. Let’s get started on that right away.
How to embed a link in an Instagram story | Instagram Engagement Report in 2022
Before reading this post, take a look at how to enable 60-second reels on Instagram. Instagram users can add a link to an Instagram Story using the Swipe Up feature. Users can easily “swipe up” to open the link when viewing the Story.
You’ll be able to share intriguing news about a new service, product, or event, but then just encourage your followers to “swipe up for more information.” This provides a low-friction option for marketers to generate traffic from the App and a more seamless way for consumers to interact with the company directly from their Stories. On Instagram, who could use Swipe Up?
Because the Swipe Up function is designed for brands & Instagram users, Instagram only makes it available to those who meet three requirements:
You must have a verified account with 10,000 followers and a business profile.

• Check to see whether you got 10,000 followers or if your account is validated.
• Select the chain icon in the top right corner when publishing your Story.
• To add a link to the web page, click “+ URL.”
• In the text field, type the URL.
• In the top right-hand corner, click “Done.”
• While you’re ready to submit, go to the bottom right and click the “+Story” button.
1. Verify that you also have 10,000 followers or that your account is confirmed.
If you don’t, you won’t be ready to fulfill the instructions following.

2. When posting to your Insta Story, click the chain icon in the top right corner.
3. To add a link to a website page, click “+URL.”
This allows you to choose which link to include in your Story. If you wanted to link your Story to the IGTV video instead, you could do so.
4. In the text field, type the URL.
When a user swipes up on your Story, the user will be sent to this page. You’ll want to paste it into the “URL” text field.
5. In the upper right corner of the screen, click “Done.”
After that, you’ll be asked to complete the publishing procedure for your Story.
6. Once you’re able to publish, go to the bottom right and select the “+ Story” button.
Your published Story now has a Swipe Uplink that says “See More.”
If you don’t really have 10,000 Instagram followers, here’s how to add a link.
You will have to get a little inventive if you want to market things outside of the platform. Here are some alternatives for you:
You are using an IGTV video to direct your audience.
IGTV (Insta TV) is an app that lets you make Instagram videos that are 1 minute long and up to 15 minutes long (through mobile) or 60 minutes in length (via desktop) (via web). Also, look at how to find someone’s I.P. address on Instagram. In contrast to ordinary Insta posts and Stories, IGTV allows you to include clickable links in the video description.
While Stories receive more notice than IGTV videos, establishing a Story that advertises the IGTV video using your link is one strategy you may employ. You’ll be able to get some click-through from the Story.
You are inviting people to click on the link in your bio.
In addition, Instagram allows you to include a link in your account bio. This space is best used to display your website’s homepage in many circumstances. If you want to direct people to a certain page, you might include the promo link in your Story and then use “link in bio” wording to guide people there.

Because of the extra steps, the user must take to access the links, both of these strategies may result in lower conversions. However, when you grow your Instagram audience to 10,000 followers, they’re both terrific ways to generate traffic.
Swipe Up Link Examples on Instagram @Detoxinista Recipes
Food bloggers like @Detoxinista use the Swipe Uplink in Instagram Stories to embed recipes. They intelligently offer photographs of appetizing-looking cuisine, incentivizing visitors to swipe up and learn how to prepare it. The link isn’t a blatant commercial; instead, it directs viewers to Detoxinista’s website so that they can purchase her cookbook and learn more about her brand.
Blavity is a media organization “founded and run by Black millennials.” They give their viewers informative and entertaining news, opinion, and lifestyle material.
Blavity sponsored World No Tobacco Day as part of a recent project with L.A. Quits raising awareness about the dangers of smoking. You’ll notice the “Swipe Up” call to action on the left. Users will be routed to the L.A. Quits website, where they will find information to help them live a healthy, tobacco-free life.

You may have seen the growing tendency among Bachelor & Bachelorette contestants to become brand influencers and insert Swipe Up ads in their Stories if you’re a fan. Ali, a fashion & style blogger, frequently posts photos or videos of ensembles she’s wearing, along with Slide Uplinks that allow users to purchase the goods online.
She also frequently includes incentives for consumers that swipe up, further enticing them to buy anything from a company’s website.

Reebok launched “Be More Human,” a strong and important campaign that celebrates women’s empowerment through exercise. They create awareness for the initiative on Instagram Stories by featuring renowned women such as Gigi Hadid and Danai Gurira. Then when you swipe up, you can discover more about Reebok’s project and how you could even get involved. There are options to buy t-shirts or donate some money on the site, but it’s clear that Reebok is focusing on its mission above everything else, which is a wonderful goal.

Why can’t I add a link to my Instagram story?
People couldn’t use the link sticker choice on an Instagram story since Instagram didn’t correctly authenticate their account, or they didn’t have at least 10.000 followers.
How do I embed a link on Instagram?
• To add a story, tap and hold on to your profile photo.
• Take photos or select one from your phone’s gallery to upload.
• Select the Sticker icon at the top of the screen.
• Look for the Link Stickers in the sticker menu.
• Choose it.
