How to Have Multiple Telegram Accounts on a Single Device

Telegram is an instant messaging social platform, and it allows its users to send normal messages, voice messages, and video calls. Telegram was initially released in 2013, and it was founded by the Durov brothers. Telegram also allows its users to form groups and channels with up to 200,000 members. Telegram is known for its security and the end-to-end encryption it uses for its messages. Although Telegram has tens of differentfeatures, features such as auto-deletion of messages, creating and using bots for different purposes, and having multiple accounts come to mind. If you are interested to know how you can send voice messages on your Telegram. Take a look at my other guide here: “How to Send Voice Message in Telegram.”

What Do Multiple Telegram Accounts on a Single Device Do?

One of the reasons why many consider Telegram to be the best instant messaging social platform out there is the fact it is always updated with new features. One of the newer features that were added to Telegram, comparatively speaking, is the ability to have multiple accounts on a single device. It’s pretty self-explanatory. You can have more than one account on one device without having to use Android features such as “App Twin.”

What Is Having Multiple Telegram Accounts on a single Device Good for?

Let’s take a look at possible situations where you find this feature more than useful.

  • Some people tend to have more than one number. Due to their lifestyle, they usually use one number for their work, another for family, and maybe a third for something else. Such people wouldn’t want to use the same profile in a professional setting as they would use in a family setting. Having two or more accounts allows such people to achieve this and more!
  • There are some interesting tricks you can use on Telegram, and they are only possible if you have a second account. Normally, you’d need to either use the Android feature “App Twin” or have two Android devices. One such trick is when you want only certain messages or files you send in your channel to be auto-deleted and want the rest to remain intact. To find out more about this trick, how you can do it, and how you can enable auto-delete messages, take a look at my other guide here: “How to Enable Auto-Delete Messages in Telegram.”

How to Have Multiple Telegram Accounts on a Single Device – iOS

Unfortunately, at the time I’m writing this, this feature doesn’t exist on iOS. It means that you can’t have multiple Telegram accounts on a single device officially. However, there are ways to bypass that.

  • The first, suggested way is to use Windows. See the next section for more information
  • There are mods of Telegram, such as Telegram X or Loopy Messenger, that allow you to, like Android users, have multiple accounts on one device. However, I don’t suggest using these mods. As they are not released by Telegram, no one can guarantee your privacy and security.

How to Have Multiple Telegram Accounts on a Single Device – Windows

The process is quite similar to Android. Follow these simple steps to learn how you get it done.

Step 1:

Open Telegram on your desktop.

Step 1.1:

If you don’t have the Telegram app on your computer, you can download it from Telegram’s site and install it on your computer. Go to https://desktop.telegram.org/. The site will detect your windows and will suggest the best version based on it. I suggest you download and install Telegram rather than using the portable version. Once your download finishes, proceed with the installation and log into your account. The login process is the same as your android device.

Step 2:

Once in Telegram, look for a three-line icon in the upper leftmost corner of your screen. Tap on it.

Step 3:

In the new menu, open the highlighted icon.

Step 4:

Once you do, a new option, “Add Account” should appear. Tap on it.

Step 5:

You will be asked to log into the account you want to add to the new page. You will have two options:

  • You can enter the number you have your account on. Then, you will be sent a code on your phone or your Telegram if it’s logged in, and you will be asked to enter the code on your Telegram desktop.
  • Alternatively, you can follow these steps to log into your account using a QR code.

Step 5.1:

To log in using the QR code, first, open the Telegram app on your phone.

Step 5.2:

Once Telegram is opened, tap on the three-line icon in the upper left corner of your screen to open a new menu. Then tap on and open “Settings.”

Step 5.3:

Under the “Settings” tab, find and tap on “Devices”.

Step 5.4:

On the new page, you will be presented with an option to scan the QR code provided to you by Telegram Web. Tap on “Link Desktop Device”, this will open a QR code scanner. Scan the Telegram Web code and you will be logged into your account. Also, you can see all other active sessions you have. You can delete them here to disconnect that instant of connection.

Now you have two accounts on your PC! And you can switch between them anytime.
